Cultural Awakening: YADRA Launches New Apparel Line “Noqu Vanua”

The much-anticipated launch of YADRA’s new apparel and merchandise line, “Noqu Vanua,” took place last week, celebrating Fijian culture through fashion.
This collection features a variety of stylish items, including t-shirts, vests, and long-sleeve
rash guards, all adorned with striking Masi motifs inspired by the vibrant Fijian culture.
KUKI, the Managing Director of Resonance, shared his thoughts on the design choices: “We
aimed to create something that will remind both Fijians here and abroad to stay connected to their roots.”

He emphasizes that the purpose of the “Noqu Vanua” line is to celebrate Fijian culture, inviting people from diverse races and backgrounds to engage with it while remaining deeply rooted in its traditions. The collection not only showcases intricate designs but also emphasizes the importance of cultural identity in contemporary fashion. As Maria Elena (Lena), the Yadra Shop Manager, noted, “The Yadra line contributes to the preservation and promotion of Fijian cultural heritage.”

Marica, the Yadra Shop Assistant, highlighted customer feedback: “People are excited about these designs; especially among the younger generations seeking cultural identity.” She believes that this collection serves as a testament to preserving the Fijian culture in a modernday setting.

Kelera (Lela), the Executive Assistant, mentions that the line offers more than just apparel, “We also have new bucket hats, stainless steel water bottles, and tote bags!” She expressed her excitement for the new line with much enthusiasm. This event marks a significant moment for cultural expression, uniting locals and Fijians all
over the world in a shared appreciation for Fijian heritage.
