Fiji’s vibrant music scene is buzzing with the emergence of Fo Sho, a sensational new band aiming to redefine Fiji’s musical landscape.
The trio, consisting of Caleb Heatley as the lead singer and guitarist, Anasa Seruvatu on drums, and Thomas Waqaraiwai on bass with smooth supporting vocals, is making waves with their unique sound.
Backstory and Uniqueness of the Group
Each member of Fo Sho brings a rich musical background, having grown up immersed in rhythm and song. Their individual journeys through previous bands laid the foundation for their collective passion for music.
Caleb and Anasa initially joined Resonance Entertainment as solo artists. Their musical paths converged when they sought a bassist, leading to an advertisement that caught Thomas’s attention. He auditioned successfully, completing the trio that has become known as Fo Sho.
The band’s formation was orchestrated by the famous Kuki, the Director of Nalawa Holdings, parent company of Resonance Entertainment, where all your favourite bands like InsideOut, Vegas 6, and MARAMA, are signed to. Kuki, who recognized the potential in these talented musicians brought them together and merged them as a band where each member’s talents and skills compliment each other forming a fusion of reggae, R&B, jazz, and blues.
The name “Fo Sho” emerged from a casual conversation between Caleb and Anasa during a phone call. When brainstorming names, Anasa cheerfully said, “Don’t worry, we’ll get the name FOR SURE!” Caleb laughed and replied, “That’s it! That’s the name.” This light-hearted moment encapsulates the band’s cheerful spirit and camaraderie.
Fo Sho’s members share a profound love for music, believing that “when you love what you do, there isn’t a day of work.” This passion fuels their creativity and drives them to explore new musical terrains.
Collaboration with Saimone Vuatalevu
Fo Sho recently collaborated with the legendary Fijian artist Saimone Vuatalevu on a revitalized rendition of the classic song “Tucake Mai.” This collaboration bridges generations, combining Saimone’s iconic vocals with Fo Sho’s dynamic rhythms to create an unforgettable listening experience that honours the original while pushing the boundaries of Fijian music.
Fo Sho is set to make a significant impact on Fijian music by blending reggae, R&B, jazz, and blues into a unique fusion that promises to captivate audiences. As they embark on this exciting journey, fans can expect a fresh sound that reflects both their individual talents and their collective vision. With their innovative approach and collaborations like that with Saimone Vuatalevu, Fo Sho is not just another band; they are a movement ready to elevate Fiji’s musical identity to new heights.
