Soulful Strides: Caleb Heatley’s Journey with FoSho

Caleb Heatley, the lead singer and guitarist of Fiji’s rising band FoSho, is looking forward to a transformative year filled with both personal growth and professional milestones. As the band continues to carve out its name in the music scene, Heatley shares insights into their journey, challenges, and aspirations.

One standout moment for Heatley was the Miss Hibiscus Festival Performance in the past year, where the energy of the crowd left a lasting impression on him. “Hearing the crowd cheer us on was what put me on a roll,” he recalls, emphasizing the connection between the band and its audience. This performance not only showcased their musical talents but also solidified their presence in the local music scene.

Heatley’s passion for music ignited when his song “Vulau” went viral on TikTok. This pivotal moment served as a clear indication that he had the potential to create impactful music. “It was a good sign that I was capable of making good music,” he reflects, highlighting how social media can serve as a launchpad for aspiring artists in this new era.

The year was not one without its challenges. Heatley recalls facing issues with time management and transportation to rehearsals. To tackle these obstacles, they implemented a structured schedule, setting aside a fixed day each week for
practice. Heatley advises others to “allocate time properly, prioritize, and
practice,” emphasizing that discipline is key to success in any creative endeavour.

A Spark of Learning and Growth
Throughout the year, Heatley has embraced new vocal techniques that have
enhanced his performance. “The vocal exercises have taught us how to properly
utilize our voices and keep our runs crisp,” he shares, showcasing his commitment to continuous improvement in his craft.

Heatley’s life experiences—both joyful and challenging—have significantly influenced his musical style. He describes his performances as soulful and heartfelt, shaped by his struggles and hardships. This authenticity resonates with audiences, allowing them to connect deeply with his music.

Looking ahead, Heatley hopes that his work will convey a universal message: “Show the world that everyone is human.” He aims to create music that resonates with both the local and global community fostering inclusivity through his art.

If given the opportunity to collaborate with any artist, Heatley expresses a
desire to work with artist DMP (Door Man’s Project). He envisions producing
club bangers” together with them to create a distinct sound.

A project Heatley is particularly proud of is the Adi Senitoa album. He expresses his gratitude for everyone involved in its creation, highlighting it as a significant milestone in their journey.

As FoSho gears up for the new year, Heatley is excited about releasing new original songs with the band that promise to introduce a fresh sound. He anticipates their upcoming tracks will be catchy enough for listeners to hum along during their daily lives. With a light chuckle, Heatley said, “FoSho will get some originals out soon. New sound, new vibe, the next song you’re going to be humming in the bus or on your way to school or work.”

With a passion for music and a dedication to growth, Caleb Heatley and FoSho
are destined to make waves in the industry as they continue their artistic journey in the new year.
